Competitor Responsibilities

When attending UFBA challenges and events, you are not only representing the UFBA but also Fire and Emergency New Zealand and your Brigade. We would appreciate professional conduct when attending these challenges and events. Inappropriate conduct will be taken very seriously and may result in disqualification from the challenge.

Please remember that drinking in uniform/PPE in public OR in restaurants and bars is also prohibited. We have a cash bar at the prizegiving dinner. Under no circumstances is additional alcohol to be brought into the function venue, as this is against our contractual obligations.


Privacy Statement

The registration information collected by the United Fire Brigades' Association will be used for delivering and reporting on Challenge events and may be kept for historical records. I understand that my contact details will be shared with Gilpin Travel to organise accommodation, flights (if necessary) and transfers. I understand my registration information will be shared directly with Fire and Emergency NZ for reporting purposes. I understand that my information will be kept for historical purposes. This information will be securely, digitally stored and will not be shared with third parties.

Our challenges and events may contain photography and videography which may include you and your team. By registering, you acknowledge this and will give consent to your image being used for future marketing and communication collateral by the UFBA. Imagery and videos will never be used by or sold to Third Parties not directly involved in the business of the UFBA.

ACCOMMODATION

All accommodation should be booked via the Gilpin Corporate Travel online registration process. Funded accommodation will be allocated based on your team's requirements and on a first in, first served basis. You will receive an itinerary from Gilpin Corporate Travel once your accommodation is confirmed.

  • If you live more than 100km away from the Challenge venue: Three nights of funded accommodation on a twin-share basis at one of the UFBA-selected accommodation suppliers
  • If you live within 100km of the Challenge venue: You do not have access to funded accommodation, but there will be the option to stay at one of the UFBA-selected accommodation suppliers at your own cost if you wish.
Distances are calculated using https://www.google.co.nz/maps and are based on the distance from the center of your town of origin to the challenge venue

For those eligible for funding, the following conditions apply:
  • 2-person team: UFBA funds one twin-share room which will be allocated by Gilpin Corporate Travel.
  • 4-person team: UFBA funds two twin-share room which will be allocated by Gilpin Corporate Travel.

Accommodation is non-refundable and non-transferrable. As soon as you have submitted your accommodation requirements below, you are responsible for the full charges that are booked in this registration if you choose to amend or cancel at a later date.

Additional accommodation requirements (at your own cost)

According to Fire and Emergency NZ Funding, only three night's of accommodation is funded and additional accommodation will be at your own cost, however additional nights' accommodation may be granted upon written application to the Events Team at events@ufba.org.nz. Please advise in the notes below if you will be requesting the option.


TRAVEL AND TRANSFERS

We recommend that you drive to Island Challenges as flights into these locations are limited and airports are generally not in close proximity. If you believe that flying is your best option, please provide details below and UFBA events team will confirm if flights are permitted.

Flights will not be considered for those that live within 200km of the host venue.

Unless otherwise stated throughout the registration pack, it is assumed that you will have your own transport during a North Island challenge. Therefore, limited transport and transfers will be available.

Summary

Refer to the registration pack for standard terms and conditions. Submitting your registration indicates that you accept these terms and conditions and agree to adhere to them. CANCELLATIONS Should you for any reason need to cancel your booking your registration fee will be retained, and you will be billed for any travel bookings made on your behalf. Unless you can provide written evidence as to your poor health or extenuating circumstances that prohibit you from attending.
